The House of Commons may have powered down for the summer, but ACCESS TO INFORMATION, PRIVACY AND ETHICS members will be back on the clock for at least a few hours this morning.
As previewed by iPolitics, as per a motion adopted just before the parliamentary hiatus got underway in June, the committee has scheduled a special mid-summer meeting to hear from two of Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault’s former business associates: Edmonton-area lobbyist Kirsten Poon, who, as first revealed by Global News earlier this year, took over Boissonnault’s fledgling consulting business after he was appointed to cabinet in 2021, and “met with high-level political staff in six federal departments, including one where Boissonnault was also associate minister” as part of a coordinated effort to obtain federal funding for the Edmonton International Airport, and Stephen Anderson, with whom Boissonnault co-founded medical supply company Global Health Imports after losing his 2019 re-election bid.
